NEXT TO NATURE
Next to Nature is all about enhancing natural spaces and creating wildlife connections right in our own yards.

In partnership with the Green Infrastructure Consortium, San Dieguito River Valley Conservancy offers a Next to Nature certification for people who create sustainable landscapes on their property. To earn the certification, participants learn to integrate their landscapes with nature, make the best use of water, conserve energy, reuse and recycle. Next to Nature designs complement existing natural spaces and, ideally, increase connectivity across the landscape. In a changing climate, Next to Nature landscapes are best-suited to withstand droughts, wildfires, the depletion of topsoil, loss of biodiversity and other challenges.
As land stewards, Next to Nature participants play an important role in boosting California’s climate resilience. In our shared fight against climate change, landscaping Next to Nature helps clean both air and water and support California’s unique biodiversity.

In Next to Nature, we practice smart irrigation, storing water and removing turf. We encourage participants to take advantage of discounts and rebates from our list of incentives
