San Dieguito Lagoon Trail Fund – “Donate a Plank” Campaign
Launched in mid-2007, the “Donate a Plank” campaign raises funds for the extension of the San Dieguito Lagoon Boardwalk and Trail segment of the 55-mile Coast-to-Crest Trail, as well as the installation of interpretive displays.
The first segment of the Boardwalk was installed by busy volunteers from the Del Mar Rotary (all in one day!), and is open to pedestrian users by foot from Jimmy Durante Boulevard. However, a lot more work needs to be done! – Next steps include extending the trail eastward to El Camino Real and then eventually to the Coast.
Construction of the coastal segment of the Coast-to-Crest Trail has begun and will continue from the Boardwalk east to El Camino Real, passing under I-5. The Conservancy’s North Bank Restoration Project will enhance the portion of the trail west of the freeway with native vegetation. Once completed, the Coastal Trail will allow hikers, bikers, and horseback riders access through the restored areas of the San Dieguito Lagoon.
Help Complete the Trail - “Donate a Plank”
By donating $100 toward a Boardwalk plank, your name will be added to
the legacy of the River Park – and your contribution will be recognized
with an inscribed plaque attached to the plank you secure.

Your support will make possible the completion of the Lagoon Trail,
a priceless recreational resource, and help provide interpretive materials to
educate visitors about the extremely fragile nature of the Lagoon and its
wildlife inhabitants - some of which are the most rare and threatened in
San Diego.
