What You Should Know Before Donating Stock
- Donated appreciated stocks, bonds and mutual funds held for more than 1-year are income tax-deductible for up to 30% of the adjusted gross income.
- Appreciated stock, meeting the 1 year holding requirement, is not subject to capital gains taxation.
- Depreciated stock may be sold with the proceeds donated to the Conservancy AND a capital loss deduction claimed.
- Please consult a qualified legal or financial advisor before making a gift of stock.
