San Pasqual Valley to Poway Trail Connection

This trail will link the San Pasqual Valley segment of the Coast-to-Crest Trail to the extensive City of Poway trail system. The connection will be constructed by the City of Poway between the Heritage development near Blue Sky Ranch in Poway to San Pasqual Valley, including a staging area at the Evergreen Nursery tree farm Highland Valley Road. The River Park plans to extend the trail from the staging area for a short distance along Highland Valley Road, cross the road and connect directly to the Mule Hill Trail.



Although the trail segment is short in length, it is complicated by the necessity to allow hikers to safely cross Highland Valley Road. There is also adjacent wetland and riparian habitat in the streambed of the San Dieguito River. The River Park has conducted detailed habitat and species surveys as well as an archaeological survey, and is currently processing a site development permit through the City of San Diego. The trail is planned for construction in 2008.
